Dr. Denise Vargas is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience dedicated to helping individuals heal, grow, and reclaim their lives. She brings warmth, insight, and deep clinical expertise to her work, particularly with individuals facing trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and complex life transitions.
Dr. Vargas is EMDR-trained and has extensive experience working with justice-involved populations, having spent over a decade providing trauma-informed care in correctional settings. She previously served as a clinical psychologist with Denver Health, where she led therapeutic interventions, psychological evaluations, and program development for incarcerated men and women.
In private practice, Dr. Vargas offers a collaborative and compassionate space for clients to explore their stories, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change. She draws from cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and EMDR therapies and integrates culturally responsive and strengths-based approaches to care.
Dr. Vargas is also a passionate educator and speaker. She regularly presents on topics such as addiction, multiculturalism, and gender-responsive care, and is actively involved in professional committees focused on mental health equity, suicide prevention, and criminal justice reform.
Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology at New Mexico State University, Dr. Vargas is committed to expanding access to integrated, evidence-based mental health care—including the advancement of prescriptive authority for psychologists in Colorado.

Jennifer (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) and a recent graduate of the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Denver. She completed her clinical internship at the Denver County Jails, where she provided trauma-informed care to incarcerated individuals. This experience deepened her commitment to supporting mental health at the intersection of social justice and systemic change.
In addition to her clinical work, Jennifer has contributed to multiple research trials focused on helping individuals heal from the impacts of gender-, race-, and weight-based stigma. Her therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic theory with liberation psychology, supporting clients in understanding how early relationships, internalized narratives, and systemic oppression shape their lives.
Jennifer is dedicated to creating a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and identities. She understands that beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, and she offers compassionate guidance and support every step of the way. Jennifer believes that healing is not only a personal process, but also one that can be nurtured through community, empowerment, and meaningful social change.
